IMCOM Airfield Pavement Training for Airfield Management and DPW Personnel
This training course is sponsored by Headquarters, Installation Management Command (IMCOM) as part of the College of Installation Management, School of Public Works. With IMCOM, the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) will be conducting a three-day airfield pavement training course for airfield and DPW personnel.

The training will concentrate on the procedures used in the airfield pavement evaluation process, proper and improper repair techniques, developing projects for GFEBS, preventive maintenance techniques, and explain how the reported results can assist the installations in managing their airfield pavement infrastructure. The training will begin with general discussions on airfield pavement types, design considerations, construction practices, structural evaluation, surface condition inspections, maintenance and repair strategies, and pavement management. The training will continue with detailed discussions with the airfield management team on the structural evaluation results presented in the reports. This will include the mission traffic, aircraft classification numbers, pavement classification numbers, and strategies for managing aircraft operations on the airfield facilities. The condition survey data presented in the reports will be discussed in detail along with an introduction to the PAVER software package. The training will continue with discussion of the importance of pavement management and how the reports and software can be used for developing maintenance and repair strategies aimed to optimize available budgets and airfield pavement performance. Lectures will also be presented on typical maintenance and repair practices identified at installations and how they relate to long-term performance of the airfield pavement.
